Wow, what an article.
I am fearful for the Protestant Church.
It seems it's gone the same route as the Catholic Church, when it elevated the pope and church traditions to such a high degree, that when there was a discrepancy between the Scriptures versus the pope's word and the tradtions of the church, the pope's word and the traditions of the church won out.
The Protestant Church is in that same place, only instead of the pope, we have church leadership and the teachings and doctrines of men. From what I've seen, there seems to be more heeding and obeying church leadership and man-made doctrines, than honest seeking after the Lord.
Its the same place the religious leaders were in in Israel at the time of Christ's physical life here on earth.
How is it that we continually fall back to worshiping the creature, rather than heeding the Creator, and even feel righteous while doing so?
How is it that men and the traditions of men continually take precedence over the Spirit and the Word?
I guess praise from men, intermingled with church- generated fear, wins out most of the time.
May God open our eyes to see the error that we have fallen into, and the bondage that we willingly take upon ourselves because of it. May we truly WANT to be set free. May we truly TAKE those steps toward Christ. May we truly COME to Him, even if it arouses the ire of those in religious bondage around us.
