I fell sick about 6 years ago.I was taught the same thing you were it’s my fault. I came off all medications and spent a year fasting, praying and reading my bible. at the end of the year I was still sick and getting worse. I cried out to God to heal me he reached down and handed me Grace. I was angry at first what was I going to do with Grace but I did not throw it away. I held it in extreme anger.now I understand I needed Grace far more than healing. He has grown me so much in suffering I have suffered much but am close to God.

Hi Chip , Thanks again to God for speaking through you with this article. Chip do you ever just get upset with leaders within the church who are esteeming themselves and preaching the health wealth and themselves gospel? God mentions so many times in the word how much he hates pride. We never like to think that God hates anything yet Pride disgusts Him. I know of someone who *thinks* they have alot of biblical knowledge – however when someone they know gets sick – has trials – or suffers – they say either your not in God’s will or it is sin or lack of faith. I went to this home group and when that was discussed – I never went back ( this is when I came out of the institution ) I do not believe whatsoever that everything is from Satan – as you stated as well. Even so when I was in the * church * the “Bishop” always used mind games to say *yea* if you ever leave your covering ( his church ) all heck is going to break through in your life. How people use this manipulation tactic. Apostle Paul wrote just about all God’s epistles through adversity and suffering – all those who fought for the faith was martyered was the faith – it is through our trials that we grow and produce much fruit – but like you state in some of your articles the gospel as been watered down to make it a easy free salvation life – and when trials do come – people bail. Sometimes I get so mad with the things I hear of leaders doing and I know it further from the word – I have to pray continually because I have a son caught up with all this hoopla. It hurts. They have comitted idolatry by esteeming the leader as God himself – Bishop this Bishop that – Bishop says – once someone mentioned his name to another leader in that church and that leader said His name is not so and so it is Bishop! anyways thanks for sharing and God bless

I am new to this site but I loved this message. I thought Grace was to endure people,which it is.It is also and mostly to help us do what we cannot.This helps us continue the process of letting God direct us. Thank you for such good teaching. It is Good to see the word of God into a whole message he meant.

Thank you Karla for your honest email. Sometimes,we as christians are lead to believe that any suffering is somehow outside the hand of God.This entire thing is a huge issue. As we believe for healing,He humnbles us,letting us know from where comes our help while working His work in us. Chip, I am so enjoying your book,”Embrace the Cross. The first thing I say when I’m in a new trial. What did I do to get in such a mess? No matter what I do, it stays. It wants to destroy me,by shaking my faith, causing depression when I look at “it” instead of looking at Jesus. I still find it hard to believe that an ordinary person, who minds their own business, goes about her life, just wanting to “KNow HIM” has so many enemies…
yes, sometimes the trials, persecutions, troubles,hardships seem more than I can bear, it’s then that I labour to enter into His rest… It’s so tempting to get into the fight, because I know right from wrong, but I also know I’m to not fight iin the flesh, because that is not God’s way. I am comforted knowing that we all are following Christ, and also are all suffering for His name’s sake. He alone is our victory. He alone will fight the battles, and He alone will be our strength. I’m in the worst trial yet, and it seems impossible. Yet, I know that God is the God of the impossible. Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He will be our light through “all ” darkness. I pray for my brothers and sisters here.

Chip very solid teaching good article certainly Christ is the source of our spiritual power unless we have humbled ourselves Christ cannot work thru us the battle and victory has been won by Christ and him alone the other weapon satan uses against believers is doubt and fear Faith can become still born and ineffective.Smiths Wigglesworth catch cry was “just believe” he did mighty things for God as he acted on Gods word he also lived a life humbly submitted to God many want the power but one has to walk the walk as well.Closer we are to God the clearer we will hear him brent

Thank you. I once heard it said that when it says, “I will give you rest”, it could be translated, “I am resting you”. Seems we can’t even rest without Him…I love that.

Awsome teachings Chip . i am so much enlightened and fwd to many in the spiritual people to grow deeply and not superfically just having good time in the church saying halleuia with music but to be transformed as christ to call for each one in the world.
