Wow. this is a powerful message. i have always been worried abot how i am neglecting my gifts and not using them to bless others. this is an eye opener! its not about people really, its all about the Lord. May he use us all as he will without anything getting in the way of our relationship with him.

I am so thankful the Lord told me not to promote myself and that no one else has come along to do it either. Yet, from time to time, I've received a phone call from someone who got my CD from somewhere, informing me of how the Lord used the songs He gave me to sustain them and remind them of who He is. That's worth more to me than the ministry I used to desire.

Thanks for writing this article.

I used to want to be just like the busy song bird, doing what I thought was right and needed by me in the church. My ambition was to lead worship for that is what I thought I should do with my gifting. I lead worship once and felt that I was born to do this. Circumstances however prevented me from repeating this, and I lost heart. I would sing but never sing in my heart but outside of my heart, in other words it looked good on the outside to others.

Much later (7 years) once again I have been approached to lead worship in my church, but this time I said no. I have learnt that the time I spend with the Lord outside of others view has given me a stronger sense of the Lords presence in my life, so much so that I feel to not stop and be with him is like I have failed Him. Perhaps a better way to explain it is this, I am happily longing for his presence but if I do not stop and allow myself time with Him, then I am very sad and I lose my joy. I sense His sadness.

Time with the Lord is never time wasted even if for a time those jobs you need to do around the house wait. Incidentally I have found that if I give my time to the Lord first, those other things I needed to do get done more efficiently.

Time with the Lord is never wasted so don't listen or allow others to pressure you into doing what you have not heard the Lord ask you to do. Yes I say heard for if you learn to stop and spend time with the Lord you recognise his voice.

My children hear my voice.

Eve His child.
