Thanks Chip,

If what you are saying is that spiritual "victory" is only had when we abide in Jesus Christ, I am in full agreement. Certainly our attempts at waging war with the devil are futile outside of the Lord. Jesus fought and won that battle for us.

1Co 15:54-58 NASB But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. (55) "O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?" (56) The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; (57) but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

Victory is only to be had "in" Jesus Christ... Paul says, "So stay put and don't be moved out of the Lord or His work".

I'm not sure I understand you entirely, but that isn't really your goal anyway and I so appreciate that about the ministry the Lord has entrusted to you. This article of yours as well as your reply to my post have certainly caused me to look at "victory" afresh and anew. I will continue to seek Him and trust the He has indeed won the "victory" for His beloved.

Thank you for sharing this experience with me. Once again I see how Jesus bring revelation to His children and keep us looking just at Him. I see how no matter where we are around the world, He shows us the same things over and over which is He is our salvation and He is the one building His church Here on Earth. We should continue getting closer and closer sharing the experiences we all have with Him for our edification in the faith and transformation of our souls.

Hello Chris,

"Fight the good fight" does not refer to fighting the devil. It is a euphemism for being faithful to the end.

As for Ephesians 6, this comes after the lessons learned in Ephesians 1. Since we are seated with Christ in Ephesians 1 we are not wrestling with flesh and blood. The enemy is spiritual. So Paul tells us to "stand therefore". He does not say "fight therefore." We demonstrate our victory by standing, not by fighting; and we enter into this Victory by sitting.

Hope this helps.

Chip,
Thanks for your reflections and insights into Jesus being our victory. I'm not quite sure I completely understand what you mean when you say, "We have been handed a victory, and we have also already fought a battle in which we obtained the victory." How do you see the following:

1Ti 6:12 NASB Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

2Ti 4:7 NASB I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;

Eph 6:12 ESV For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Thanks for your consideration.

I am thankful to God for this article, and to you for penning it. So often your articles arrive at precisely the moment I most need to read them, and have been such a blessing.

Though I have never had a vision nor heard the audible voice of God, I understand exactly what you mean by "seeing it" and hearing. These spiritual knowings and pictures or impressions...they are so hard to explain, yet so filled with the glory of Christ and His presence. All the burdens of this earthly life fall away. Having no words to describe or convey this beauty and freedom in Christ, has at times been frustrating. "What am I to do with this, Lord? How can I share this when I see a brother or sister struggling, yet I cannot find the words to bring comfort or even describe it? How thankful I am that in Christ you can articulate and share this way with the ecclesia. It is such a needed voice in these end times, and so often confirmation for what He has been showing me in His Word and so many seeking the narrow way. How often I've taken wrong turns, gotten caught up in "the many things" blundered, worn out from serving, or gotten stung by the proverbial hornets you write of in this article. And then the reminder arrives.

Only one thing is needful. His name is Jesus Christ. Of ourselves, we can do nothing, yet through Him only, we live, in Him all things are possible. "Though I sit in darkness, the Lord Himself will be my light." Micah 7:8 When abiding in Him in the heavenlies, there is no fear, it all falls away. He took the stinger out of death and all its hornets 2000 years ago. Bless God!

Thank you for all you share, and for always pointing to Christ. God's blessings to you and family.

Thank you so much for this teaching. This is what I believe, have believed and been severely criticised for. When I read the article a peace settled and there is no more doubt in my mind that it is quite enough to place Jesus in the center. I have had such a bad feeling about learning as much as possible about all the different aspects of darkness and evil. Only when Jesus is the center of my attention do I experience peace and joy in the midst of the storm. God bless you!
