Embrace the Cross

embrace_cross_post

“Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.” (Lk. 14:27)

Embrace the Cross was written specifically to call people to radical faith in Jesus and Christ-centered discipleship. This book contains nearly everything Chip has ever written about the Cross, discipleship, and following Jesus – plus some things never before published. Every chapter compels the reader to consider what being a real disciple of Jesus is all about. The goal of this book is to challenge, confront, convict, and convince both saints and sinners alike to embrace the Cross!

But what is at stake here is more than just a book. The book is simply a key that opens the door to a much larger world. In the back of the book is an invitation to visit a special website and enroll in our basic discipleship course. When you give this book to your friends, family, neighbors, or strangers that you meet, you won’t just be giving them something else to read – you’ll be giving them an opportunity to know Jesus in a deeper way. Because the book leads them to the discipleship course, and that leads them to spiritual maturity in Christ. Of course, all of it points to Him anyway.

Just finished reading “Embrace The Cross”. What a heat seeking missile. For way too many years I’ve struggled to find that balanced relationship of Christ that I knew was there. This book not only helped me find that balance, but brought light upon such a wonderful yet forsaken truth. So much of American Christianity (me) has been negilient of the “truths” that have been glossed over for a ‘charismatic’ feeling.
Again, thank you for allowing the LORD to use you for such an important writing.

    Hi Chip.
I started out yesterday, woke up at 4am this morning and finished the other half of the free download of chapter one on the Irresistable Kingdom. I cried and asked for forgivness the whole time as He brought forth Truth after Truth after Truth. It was an awesome time. I read also Ekklesia where there was a whole lot of confirmations that the Holy Sprit had brought to my attention many a time… AWESOME!!!
There is a lot of ground to cover but He who promised is faithful and He will do it:)..as long as we give Him His space !!!
May God continue to pour more of Himself into His Ekklesia.

Questions:How do you do things like help the widows and orphans?
What do you think of baptism?
Why did Paul and others start churches?
Why did he write to them if there shouldn’t be any churches?
    What is the Real Thing?
Why not help church members see the need for relationship with Christ as the main thing?

You have some interesting questions here. It looks like you’re trying to defend institutional religion? A little off-topic for this page, but OK.

      1. You can help widows and orphans whenever you like. You don’t need a church to accomplish this.

      2. Baptism is fine. The first baptisms happened outside, not in church buildings.

      3. Paul did not start churches. Paul preached Christ, and the Spirit made them into a spiritual family.

      4. Paul wrote to people, not to “churches” because “churches” as you understand them did not exist in the First Century.

      5. Christ is the Real Thing.

      6. Because most church members love church more than Christ, as evidenced by the kind of objections we receive from folks such as yourself.

Thanks Glenda, I hope this helps.

Good morning, Chip…Thank you! What a masterful piece of dissertation…I know the Holy Spirit must have been the author, using your pen to express His heart!:) As some of the others have commented, there is much meat and needs to be digested slowly. However, I have enjoyed marking mine up and hope to be able to read it through the 2nd time without too much interference from my own notes in the margin. So refreshing and encouraging to read Truth!!

    Hi Chip,

I just finished the first reading of your new book “Embrace the Cross” I know that It will take many readings and discussions with David Malinoski before I start down the narrow Path. I bought two copies of the book and I gave one to my grandaughter who leaves for Africa in 23 days with a group of young adults from the Summit Church in Orlando Fl. I am sure this book will give strength and purpose in this missin trip. I know I will be placing another order for books soon.
