Whether you’ve been in church all your life, are going through a bad experience right now, or are still recovering from your last bad experience, I believe these two messages will encourage you, give you some practical advice, and point you to Christ.

We have never offered anything like this before. What makes it different? For one thing, it is not a live teaching, but a “fireside chat” from me to you.

In addition, I do something I’m not used to doing. I share personal thoughts and feelings, drawing upon our last three experiences with “church” and why they ended up the way they did.

This is all the more real to me when you consider that we’re still in a bit of recovery ourselves. So you’ll not hear me tell you to “just get over it”. We’re in the same boat with many of you, learning just like you, and struggling just like you. However, we have the added benefit of having gone through this THREE times! (Does that make us experts? Perhaps.)

Some questions I try to answer include:

• Why did this happen to me?
• Will I ever get over it? (Yes)
• About how long does it take to recover? (It all depends…)
• How do I forgive and forget?
• Can I ever go back?
• Can you be a Christian without going to church?
• What do I say to my friends / family?
• What about the kids?
• How do I get over being mad at myself?
• How do I get over being mad at the church?
• How do I get over being mad at God?

And most of all:

• When will it stop hurting?
• Is God finished with me now?
• What’s the next step? (I’m glad you asked!)
