From The Cross to The Throne

In these four messages we take you “from the Cross to the Throne” and outline the narrow path every true disciple of Jesus must take in order to Overcome. We call upon the listener to accept the suffering of the Cross in order to experience the victory of the Throne. This is the only way to make sense of our trials and find purpose in our pain.

    Chip
When my eyes were first opened to the revelation of Christ I could not even begin to understand what it meant to ‘count the cost’. Gradually as God has revealed more of Christ to me through the years I am finally beginning to grasp the totality of the ‘cost’. Your writings have indeed challenged me, and allowed me to respond to the Holy Spirit within me in ways that I could not have predicted. In this final session of Cross to the throne you mentioned that God does deal with us individually relative to experiences. I’m not sure most of us could withstand complete surrender and full understanding of carrying our cross upon first revelation of Christ that leads us to confess Jesus as Lord and thus being ‘born again’. Even for Paul and the likes of many in the Bible, was it not a process after the revelation.

How do we fully understand the ‘cost’ before our eyes our initially opened to Christ? Is it then possible for a child to receive Jesus before the age of accountability, and fully understand the implications of this decision? I ask this because of your emphasis on the order as Jesus states count the cost, take up your cross daily and follow me.

Thanking you in advance for your time to both read and respond.

    In Christ
    Jackie

      Hi Jackie,

I just came across your comment as I was fixing a problem on this page. I’m sorry I didn’t see it sooner.

Most of us would not understand the cost of discipleship because no one tells us about this cost when we come to Jesus by way of Religion. But the price tag is clearly seen in the Scriptures. It is a process, meaning the deeper you go, the more costly it becomes. No, we probably don’t realize it in the beginning, but then again, no one forces us to follow Him, especially not Him.

Like any relationship, your relationship with Christ depends on mutual giving and receiving and a willingness to invest in the relationship. Many want the benefits of relationship without the investment, but no relationship survives if it is all one-sided, and the spiritual relationship is just the same. Give and it will be given to you again. Sow to the Spirit and reap of the Spirit. Sow sparingly, reap sparingly. Sow generously, reap generously. This is why some progress and some do not.

      Hope this helps.
