I listened to chapter 4 yesterday. One of the things you said was that you thought God was doing something. That fellowship may not always be available to us.
I think for myself, he has been preparing me all my life for it. People we used to fellowship with…well, they seem to not want to be with us much anymore. My Brothers and Sisters refuse to talk to me. My Son wants no contact.
Sometimes It feels very lonely, it hurts, but when you said that, I felt that God was speaking to me and that He is all I need.

hi chip, i listened to ephesians 4, i loved your teaching on this it really made me sit up and take notice i was just coasting along i really need to get back on fire for GOd i was so hurt by a person that i just wanted to give up and did for awhile but praise jesus i am coming back after about seven wasted years, so thank you chip for your teaching GODS word, with boldness,

Hi Mags, In my audio series on tithing I point out that in the New Covenant God gets 100%, so if He wants you to give everything you earn to the poor that is His prerogative. Now you see why religious people prefer the Old Covenant, because then you could do just the minimum to get by, whereas the New Covenant penetrates you to the uttermost.

Hi Chip,
I enjoyed this session as I too believe that the ‘gifts’ are for today. I don’t really understand why some well known pastors say they are not. . Anyway, your comments on tithing prompted this posting. I also dislike Christian tithing teachings quoting Malachi since Malachi is Mosaic covenant which was nailed to the cross. Yet, I’ve never heard anyone else mention the following before and I was wondering if you’d share your thoughts on it: Hebrews says that Jesus is a high priest in the order of Melchilzedek. Genesis says that Abraham tithed 10% to Melchilzedek which occured well before the Mosaic (ie: Malachi) covenant. Have you ever thought of the correlation of Abraham and Mechilzedek as it relates to tithing in the Christian era? Perhaps ‘tithing’ does not need to go to an official “Church” – why not give 10% to the poor instead? Jesus does say whatever you do for the least of these you do for me. Any thoughts on this?

Hi Rachel, thanks for listening. I have an audio series on tithing available here and it goes into far greater detail than is possible here in the comment section. The issue is really not about "tithing" but about being under the Law vs. under Grace. So while your pastor is laughing about being "free" you should listen to this teaching and then you can laugh about being "free" too the next time they pass the plate around.

First of all, thank you for speaking bold truth. There is a demand for it in the REAL BODY of christ. I do not get to listen on Thursday nights, so I get it later when recorded. I wish I had the monetary funds to bless you as you have blessed my life many times with your teachings. I will do that when I get through this wilderness and boy has it been a wilderness for 8 years.

Now, I want to ask something. I heard what you said about the tithes. We pay tithes at our church and it is taught. However, the pastor makes his money in another way. He laughs and tells us he is a “free pastor.” So my question is: What say you about Mal. 3:8-12? It seems clear to me.There are many people who paid tithes including Abraham. I wait to hear from you. thanks ro
