I believe the Spirit led me to this article because I have felt somewhat isolated since leaving Churchianity. I feel much closer to Christ since leaving the church. I left after my eyes were opened to the blatant politics and focus on money in the churches. But it is hard for me to find other Christians of like mind. Everyone seems to go to church if they profess to know Christ where I live.

It was nice to hear words from the Body of Christ outside the institutionalize church. Thank you.

This speaks so clearly to what I have been going through for approximately the last 25 years or so. Not only did the Lord set me free from "churchianty" as you so well defined, but he also took me to a point where he clearly said to me " I am going to set you free from yourself". I have come to discover that many people, here in the "Bible Belt", nor only live under tremendous obvious expectations, but they live under a lot of "self imposed expectations".

It is good to know that there is a place available that people like myself can freely express their concerns without being put through a denominational meat grinder. I have been walking with the Lord for over 44 years. I grew up in a mainline denominational church like many others, but came to a place where I realized that there had to be more to the Christian walk than just "going through he motions". As I began to seek I found, and I have no desire to go back and play he game again.

Thank you and God bless you for posting this article, it is a breath of fresh and clean air.

Oh... Thank you so much for your heart... I cannot find words... I'm always amazed... so dazzled how you can understand our reality, our suffering, our needs and... the vivid and concrete way... you get to express the main, both abstract categories of things that one could live, as an indication of the main things that we need to get us out, that we may be healed and move back into a relationship with God...

By reading this text again I realize now that I did more funds into tears... Much of the "skin-deep" suffering is part and much of the bitterness surface also... (I think I still have hidden roots that may arise in certain circumstances).
But I do not think my unease could decrease... I now see that it started well ... and when I read now: "Healing comes so out of Hurt" it appears no more like a utopia.
But it's so long that I sometimes despair at seeing all that still needs to be done in me...
This article comes at the right time to help me not... to give up... mostly because bad things do not stop coming in my life...

In reply to <a href="https://theschoolofchrist.org/5-critical-needs-christians-outside-camp#comment-1213">Roberta Foster</a>.

Roberta my dear Sister in Christ, God bless you! Could not I be your "Elder"? (Although I don't know of how much 'older' or 'longer' I have been a Christian). I too, can be a "Deacon" and attend to the things of Christ ANYWHERE. I too, can be an "Overseer" (which is what the word "Bishop" really means) and watch over my fellow Brothers and Sisters WHEREVER THEY BE! You, dear Sister, are my "Superior", if only because I am just a "Fellow Servant" of the Lord Jesus Christ. NO, we will NEVER EVER be those "Lone Ranger" Christians IF our hearts and minds TRULY BELONG TO ONE ANOTHER IN THE SPIRIT AND BODY OF CHRIST! Please, don't get caught up in "entitlement"! We are given ALL by His GRACE ALONE. Yet, none of us is more "entitled" than another. I am what I am only through CHRIST ALONE. Remember that. Timothy

Hi Chip, I'm new to all of this. I attended your recent webinar...it really opened my eyes to some things I didn't see before in scripture. A week ago, as I was studying, the Lord confirmed the several things you shared...Wow, this is a big step to pull out from the churchianity I've been in for a while. The whole time feeling very much out of place, like a sore thumb. I've been listening to the beautiful testimonies of those who have gone through persecution... they meet wherever they can, submitting to one another in the fear of the Lord, praying, encouraging one another, then going out to do whatever the Lord calls them to do even if it means laying down their lives. This has my attention. In the book of Revelation, the Lord was pleased with the persecuted believers in Smyrna and Philadelphia, but the other believers were told to repent. Jesus learned obedience by the things He suffered. The road is narrow, many are called and few are chosen. I don't care for the church system we have today, but like you said Chip, having the right fellowship for the purposes you mentioned is important. It's about Jesus and giving of ourselves for the glory of God, not what we are going to get out of it....self has to die...something I'm learning.
