To be indistinguishable from God is not the idea in 1 Cor. 6:17. The verb “joined” there is from the Greek word ‘colla’ which means ‘glue’. The two spirits are knit together like two magnets. Two yet One. The same with Christ. He and the Father ARE one, yet distinguishable. We are one because “He is made unto us …” (1 Cor. 1:30). He is these things as us not as an attainment, but as His fullness. The branch can't trade its life, because it has no life of its own. It simply rests in oneness.

Glory to the most High. Thank you Lord for your amazing Grace
We are seated with Him in the heavenlies. Chip we thank the Lord for the Christ revelation his given you and you write in the most simple way but with so much life to it. The way a husband and wife are on in marriage so we are one in Christ, Christ in us and us in Him. Christ is the Vine and we are the branches we are one. Abiding is Christ is so beautiful its a process not in our own strength but just been dependent on Him. We lack nothing and can do nothing but trust Him who is within us to take us through to the very end. His word says Never will I leave you Never will I forsake you, thank you Lord for your promise, we live because Christ Lives.

"Live in Me, and I will live in you" is a direct quote from John 15:4. There is always a distinction made between Vine and Branches, Master and Disciple, Head and Body. Though we are one spirit, we are not indistinguishable from God, nor does God so "invade" us that there is nothing of us remaining; otherwise we would have pantheism, and it would be correct to worship God or Roel or Chip. That cannot be. So we should not press the point of oneness as far as you have. It is amazing enough within the proper context.

“Live in Me, and I will live in you” speaks of a dualism that is not found in 1 Cor. 6:17. Regeneration is the invasion of everything I am by everything He is. That is our Vine-Branch reality and the only alternative is to live by unbelief in the illusion of something or someone else while in the meantime our reality remains true all the time (Gal. 6:3). In resurrection God's Spirit and my spirit forever HAVE BECOME one.
