In reply to <a href="https://theschoolofchrist.org/august16#comment-5036">Sharon Strickland</a>.

Greetings in Jesus' name. I have just emerged financially afloat from a time like yours. The following are the signposts I received while walking that path with my precious Jesus. It is a time of preparation for difficulties to come by strengthening our minds so that we truly let go of the world and all that is in it and TRUST God implicitly, always, in everything.

1. Don't focus on self preservation. (Unbelievable but true.)
Psalm 37-25 I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. ...
Prov 4:23 Above all else guard your heart for it is the wellsping of life. (I recommend you read Biblehub commentary on this. Some beautiful thinking there.)
2 Timothy 1:7 [For God didn't give us spirit of timidity but a Spirit of power, love and self discipline. My paraphrasing.] - Aim being to put our trust completely in Him.

2. 1 John 2:15 Do not love the world nor anything in the world. .. the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does comes not from the Father, but from the world. - So we don't need to conform to other's expectations - we follow the Lamb.
Ps 131 especially - v2. But I have stilled and quieted my soul like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me. (Relax - He knows the issues and He will deal with them.)

3. Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding - in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Psalm 1 Blessed is the person whose delight is on the law of God and on His law s/he meditates day & night. S/he is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season & whose leaf is evergreen.

4. Psalm 46: Be still and know that I am God.

The Lord moved me around quite a bit for temporary jobs and provided accommodation in amazing ways. One job lasted only 2 weeks. One day the Lord told me to resign it THAT SAME DAY!!! My boss was more shocked than me but I obeyed and survived on the wages from it for another month. I was then offered a job 300 kilometres away & when I moved there the agent fell sick and the offer was withdrawn!!! (What?? What??? There I am - in another city - staying with a friend and unable to pay her board!!
But she told me the Lord put it in her heart not to required any payment from me because He has reserved me as a future worker for Him overseas!!!!)

Meantime a huge bill I was waiting for was delayed. The postal service sent it to the wrong address!!! I couldn't have paid it anyway. Then - suddenly I got a tax refund which paid that bill on its eventual arrival, and I am able to set up a small business now.

I believe the whole object of the Lord in this was to teach me to trust Him implicitly. When I panicked, told Him I couldn't handle the pressure and sought Him - He supernaturally lifted a weight from me and put my mind into what seemed like a gentle stream of Life. (His Holy Spirit no doubt) - I believe this means that we don't have to rely on our own strength. We can just follow Him like little children.

I hope this lifts your spirits and blesses you in some way.
Kia - your sister.

Yes, take your time, be still. great Message! Sharon, I wish I had the answers. Ultimately, there have been times we've been or seemed "pushed' to make decisions, not necessarily liking how it turned out. I think Romans 8 does apply, we need to believe God uses it all for our good (like kids learning as they grow) and that he will not leave us fatherless, or without direction, in future times. Every case is different, sometimes we are slammed by our mortal enemy satan, while other times we have not taken our time (in our decisions) while still others, God allows certain things to happen that is maybe training or teaching "someone else' In our lives! I don't believe we can afford to say 'I did not hear God" just because we don't like the outcome.

I have to thank God for the messages that Chip shares that God lays on his heart! They are SO to the point, and mostly needed right at the time. This world is spinning out of control, faster, FASTER, F-A-S-T-E-R the so called life we live today spins. We are fearful that if we don't keep up with the rush and bustle of "life" (death actually,) we will be left behind and "miss out" (on what I haven't a clue!) There is a STILL, SMALL voice that longs to be heard above the clamor, and it is the voice of Him Who calls us to BE STILL and in the simplicity and quiet of being still, KNOW that He is God. THEN and then alone will we hear that still small voice, and peace will calm the waves. Thank you, dear brother Chip for sharing again just what I personally needed to hear today. Bless you and Karla abundantly in your new move to the corner of The Triangle. I pray that your stay will be a joyous and fulfilling stay!

I too am guilty of the hurry factor and find in many, many times it was not needful. But what I do need and everyone does is the Lord. I have found that all scripture is true-it is from God. When He says He works in divers ways, He does. Many have referred to this as luck or being lucky. I do not believe in "luck" but I believe in God's divers ways of working things out. We are put to a test many times to see if we truly turn to Him or we try the handle it ourselves. Some say you do not sit still, get up and go and so something. Sometimes it is hard to know, but God has ways of letting us know if we have jumped too soon and if we waited too long. It amazes me how He knows everything, but I know that He does. We all have had to wait on certain phases in our lives, but most do not wait patiently and that is very hard to do. When you have given and done all you can do, He will pull you through. I have not been in places like Joel in the belly of a whale or like Job lost all my children, but I have lost one, I lost my husband, one was gone for 1 year and 18 days before I knew if he was still alive or what had happened to him and been though one being in jail. But through it all, God pulled me through it . Tough as it is, hold on and He will make the way open for you.

In reply to <a href="https://theschoolofchrist.org/august16#comment-5036">Sharon Strickland</a>.

Hi Sharon,
that's a tough one, because it involves different aspects. There is the aspect of our ability to really hear Him correctly. Then there is the very important aspect of faith, allowing us to step out and move forward instead of waiting too long and missing an opportunity because of fear of failure.
There was a time when I was struggling with the very same issue of not wanting to do my own thing whereby disappointing the Lord, missing the mark, and perhaps getting hurt in the process. So I finally prayed about the struggle, because I was tired of it.
"Surely, my walk with the all-knowing and loving God must be a little less stressful and complicated," I thought.
God answered with a question: "What is your heart like, Mario?" "You know my heart Lord. Nothing is hidden from You. I truly want to please you with all I do," I answered.

"I know. You are doing just fine. Just trust me."

Of course, I still pray hard about things. I do my due-dilligence and research, as far as investigating all options. I talk things over with my wife who also prays about the issue, and then, by faith, we move into the direction we feel led to go with confidence.

When our heart is truly for Him, it pleases the Lord when we step out in faith, when we don't doubt His love in leading us, sometimes in un-expected and mysterious ways.

" And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God." (Rom. 8:28)

Blessings to you and your house!
All 4 Jesus!
