Good article. Self-effort is religion at its best. In my nearly 45 years of walking with Jesus. of which 20 plus years have been "outside the camp", i have found many times that life does have times when you are very aware of God's presence just as times when you think He is on the other side of the universe. To me this is what FAITH is all about. We don't walk by feelings but by faith. We just keep going about our daily activities whether we feel spiritual or not. It seems to me that in some of these "distance" times, God is working some great spiritual precept into our lives that will manifest itself later in some situation or crisis. After it is all over we are surprised to think, "I wonder where that came from?" Scripture clearly tells us that at some point we will see HIM and we will be just like HIM. WOW. We have no human ability to even begin to comprehend what that will be like.

There is no rest without carrying His Yoke and His burden. This is the essence of Christianity.
Undoubtedly we will be full of joy. Amazingly it is easy and light. Oh God please open our eyes.
Chip, grace be with you.

In reply to <a href="https://theschoolofchrist.org/august23#comment-5086">Billie Thompson</a>.

Dear Billie,
Consider the possibility that God is showing you that going to church is not necessary or even his plan. "Going to an institutional church" is not modeled in scripture, so the fact that it does not bother you is good because Kingdom living and following Christ have nothing to do with going to church.
Peace!
Chris

Indeed, our york is of troublesome one imposed on us that was not part of humankind when GOD created man.
so GOD wants that man's york to be transferred to the commands of CHRIST as it was in the beginning of creation.
since we have been attached soo much to this york of ours submitting to CHRIST'S commands(the obligations lays upon HIS followers) that is easier to be kept,we find it to be difficult.
GOD will not ask man to do things that are too difficult, things that is too heavy for man to carry.
GOD'S mind for man was doing what is good in HIS sight, every true thing that is in GOD was to be revealed by man.
That is man's true life

Do we trust God with the smallest details of our lives? Or do we try to struggle with "doing it our way", only to see the mess that we can make of things later? I have been learning this very important lesson in surrender lately. When I surrender ALL THINGS IN LIFE to Christ and His guidance and direction; then everything just falls into place. When I try to worry or fret about how "this or that" thing must be done, I've lost my trust and total reliance upon Him. Brothers and Sisters, this is the only way to truly live IN CHRIST. That is, in His Spirit. To have concerns are normal. To have anxieties and worries about our future is not! Faithfulness in the smallest things means overall peace and happiness. Patience then becomes our strength during weakness. Trust in Him! He is Faithful to see you through whatever you are currently facing. Amen to that!

Thank you for reminding me of this. A friend told me that 'we must be perfect even as He is perfect', and as I am struggling at the moment, my family is battling in yet another storm, I could have and almost did think that the Christian life is too difficult, that perfection is an impossibility for me. But then I read your article Chip, and remembered it is only what He does in me and through me that counts, and I can rest in Him and as I stay close He will bring about the change in me that I need. I certainly can not change myself. The more I try the worse I become, but thanks be to Him and the work He did on the cross on my behalf - thanks be to Him and the precious blood that he shed I can rest in HIm and know that I am being changed and will be changed.
