Forgiveness comes down to 'not my will, but Your will, Lord'. I struggle with what you struggle with Pauline. It concerns me. I've tripped a lot over offences that often were petty. But I wonder how I would do in the reality of a beheading in front of my eyes? I would hope that I could react as the Spirit directs. But then all the disciples scattered at times that scared them. I am apt to run, too. Plus, Jesus praying "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." So we see many examples in Scriptures to help us. Fact is, flesh has to die, and we must decrease and Jesus increase to be what God calls us to be, and do. Thank you Pauline for sharing that.

Yes. Thank you.

And as Mario said, forgiving and rejecting bitterness despite suffering is not possible for our being.
We must just begin to tell God that we want it to be in our life as He wants it, to tell Him our agreement and our inability, to ask Him to take away from our life what blocks the accomplishment of this (theses unwilling, unforgiveness, lack of mercy...) to ask Him to relieve our suffering, our disappointment and our bitterness (asking for forgiveness); And then to let Him do this work in us.
Well, that's what I'm trying to do... when I think about some things...

The process of transformation needs to take place inside the beliver. Once we learn to forgive because we have been process through the experiences of forgive someone, because God touches everything that is earthy in us. Once is brought up to our attention our willingness needs to be there for us to experience mercy and forgiveness. Praise God that he lives in our human spirit to conquer our sinful human nature. It is amazing ones we see the difficulties of this earthly life as an opportunity to be transform for the desire of God and the accomplishment of the cross. Everytime we act in willing to go to the cross and die, God gain more of us. So the prayer I have for Abba Father is for Jesus our Messiah to gain more of us individualy and collectively to bring the Ekklesia to the level of maturity to be his witnesses until he comes back and forever, in the name of Jesus our brother and Savior. AMEN!

I struggle with this... I am in England, and the migrants are coming here from Syria, Africa,,, and elsewhere

we are a small country, physically, and many of our people the poorer members of our society, migrants and British born people are really struggling..

o.k. no comparison with what we hear of the suffering elsewhere, however.

and then we have IS... Islamic people.. beheading innocents, kidnapping young girls, raping, and pillaging.... and fmg..... I really, really struggle to forgive them.

Love is indeed first of all a choice, not a feeling. However, for someone in order to be able to love even his enemies, as Jesus commanded, takes more than just a mere man, choosing in his own strength to do so. (And then there are those who hate themselves, unable to forgive their own mistakes.) Herein lies the difference, that we become a new creation, guided and empowered by His Holy Spirit. Then we can forgive others and ourselves. We can only be to someone else what we are to ourselves.

Blessings, and All 4 jesus!

I struggle with this. Does God forgive us if we do not repent? As believers, if we fall into sin is our relationship with God the same as when we are walking in obdience? The answer to both is NO. My own struggle is with my former pastor. I served with him for 12 years. One day he decided he was no longer going to speak to me anymore. He just ignores me. My family and I had to leave the church (which is what he wanted). For over 2 years I have tried to reach out to him in various ways. He remains unmoveable. I desperately desire reconcilliation; not so I can return to his church, but because of the damage it has done. I can forgive him and pray for him, but relationship cannot be restored unless he repents.

Hi Chip,

Thank you for the spot-on word this morning. As a by-product of us being (or becoming) "walking epistles", (if we truly are "in Christ"), our lives should reflect all of the nature of Christ and none of the fallen nature of the old man; again, that can only become our reality as the "new man" truly is raised to walk in the "newness of life". We are told that old things are to pass away and all things are to become new; but that can only occur as we seek the Lord and choose to cooperate with His life-changing work in and through our life. Thanks Chip for consistently providing an encouraging, and more importantly, a challenging word every morning. Stay the course my brother! Jim Abbondante
