Chip, your choice of scripture tells it all.

We are to be filled with HIM not the knowledge of Him. We are living in an age of an information glut and we have at our fingertips so much free information at anytime we desire. All we have to do is simply touch a button on some electronic gadget and instantly we can have at our access the information we are seeking, secular or religious.

This can cause us to become victims of something that I call "religious intellectualism" for lack of a better words. To me this idea is rooted in the concept that the more intellectual knowledge we gain the more spiritual or mature we are. Th Apostle Paul tells us that knowledge makes us arrogant, but love edifies.

To me the key to seeing the "indescribable Christ" lies in the portion of the above scripture that says: "we are able to comprehend with all the saints". This is why true body minister is so very important. We all only have a portion of this "indescribable Christ" and we need to share, receive and grasp others portions in order to be in HIM more ourselves.

We can argue over the meaning of words and translation of words and as the Apostle Paul so clearly stated: "We will only be shadow boxing".

We need to experience Jesus, not just know about Him. This is why we are called the body of Christ and we must come to a willingness and be able to function in that concept. None of us have a "full" understanding of Christ, but we can all share our portion to the betterment and edification of all.

When I truly see the length, width, depth, and height of THIS MAN, then why, why quibble over terminology about the past? THIS MAN SUPERCEDES ALL OF THAT. I repeat, THIS MAN SUPERCEDES ALL OF THAT! My past is what I have made of it, irrespective of any Jewish roots that may link me to the "original Christianity". My present, is what HE makes of it. My future is what HE makes of it. Chip, you have stated it so well in your article. We need to re-read that very slowly. May He have the preeminence in our lives in all things.

Yes, The Lord knows our heart toward Him. Whether we call Him Christ, Messiah, Lord, or His name to me is Jesus, the name above all names and He alone is the Holy Son of God. God did not tell us in His word that we must refer to Him with one name. Jesus is bigger than one name. He has many beautiful names that uphold His Glory in all of heaven and earth. He is our precious Lord and Savior and as long as He has our devotion and our whole heart, I truly believe any name that scripture refers to Him by, He is honored. At this time in history and what Jesus came to do was to set the captive free, I believe He's not too concerned which name or names we give Him in our heart as long as it's hallowed and He is glorified.

You misunderstand me, Chip. I am the most non-legalistic, freedom-loving believer you will ever meet. My wife and I consider Gal. 5:1to be our life motto. “It is for freedom that Christ/Messiah set us free, so keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” I am not a member of the Hebraic word police. You can call Jesus, or his title, by his Greek, Hebrew or Slavic name if you like. I matters not to me, nor God (I believe), one whit. In fact, I often stand against those in the Hebraic Roots Movement who do try to lead us into such verbal bondage. Or worse, try to put us under some rabbinic law. Like you, I am a 100% grace man.

What I am talking about is precisely what you are talking about - “knowing the man.” But how can we ever truly know him if we don’t know him in context of his unique historic background and purpose? The angel Gabriel told Mary “the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David; and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever.” As God is bringing His ecclesia out of institutional Christianity I believe he is also now awakening us to our inclusion in this Messianic Davidic kingdom soon to appear. But most Christians are clueless of our inclusion in the fulfillment of all the words of the Hebrew prophets. Why? Because they start reading the story where the New Testament begins, thinking the Old Testament is just that - old history that is no longer relevant. How can we ever understand the plot of any story if we start reading 2/3 of the way through the book?

The gospel went out from Jerusalem, Chip, but it is returning. Jesus/Yeshua will reign over the house of David on earth, and by faith we are included in that kingdom. Therefore, it would behoove those of us who are coming out of the false religion of Christianity to see what we really became a part of when we first believed. The gospel went out from Jerusalem 2000 years ago but it is returning. And we are the netted fish returning with it. It is the mystery Paul spoke about in Romans 11:25-27.

Peace, my brother.
