Yes,
I think that when you really love you are interested in the other person and you want to know her, touch her, bless her.

Also I sometimes wonder… Do I really love? Is it possible that somewhere I could be a blessing to the other (especially for God)?

Maybe I become selfish, looking for a little well-being for me…?. ?

In reply to Chip Brogden. To borrow a quote I've seen attributed to Martin Luther, "God doesn't need your good works, but your neighbor does". There is no question of who is the giver and who the receiver between me and God, God has everything, and even the faith I have in Him is itself a gift from Him. But the people around me have some need for my good works, even if it is only to try to treat them courteously as I pass them during the day.

In reply to audie. That is true; yet hopefully your relationship with God is not solely based on getting your needs met. If prayer is only seen as a way to get something for myself then it's a rather shallow, one-sided relationship. Kind of like the pagans praying to their gods for rain and bountiful crops. Prayer is not just taking from God, it is giving to God.

It is God Himself who has invited us to make our requests known to Him. God has no needs that I can meet, I am the needy one, because “in Him we live and move and have our being”. Even in the Lord’s Prayer, where we pray for God’s Kingdom to come and His will to be done, we also pray for ourselves and our needs, the need for food and to not be led into temptation.

that is a great message, all too often, we as believers go “window shopping” and ask God to bless us, provide for us, give me, give me that, help me in this area etc,
Yes there are times that we can do that, the Lord told us to ask that we will receive, but I believe when we seek His kingdom first, then all the things that we need will be added to us, not the other way around, when we delight in our Lord, He gives the desires of our heart, not gimme gimme,
