Jesus Christ is the cornerstone that was (is) rejected. The exclusivity of “Salvation through Christ alone”, is (and always was) the real stumbling block. “… strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life…”(Matt.7:14) Straightforward, not complicated, is the gate, and narrow is the way, narrowed down to just Jesus Christ. We like to add something of our own to what He has done. We like to earn what we get so we can feel good about ourselves when, in truth, it’s ALL about Jesus, JUST JESUS! By adding anything to what He finished on the cross, it is like adding heat to water. The water evaporates and we are left with nothing. “In Christ alone…”

In reply to Jackie. Amen! I too have struggled with alcohol abuse for much of my life. The LORD has delivered me one day at a time! Today is the anniversary of my sobriety 9 years sober and I give Jesus all of the glory and credit! I could not have done it on my own strength.

Humility , to be humble that’s to be like Christ . Christ humbled Himself before God by doing his will , a will leading to death , we are called to do God’s will also . I must lay down may life [less of me] and put on Christ[more of Him ] hence a new creation in Christ , the one new man , old things have passed away and all things are new , born again in the image of Christ ….Christ in us the hope of glory …..Thanks and praise to our God Amen…….this stirs me up !!!

Thanks so much for sharing! There is so much deception out there in the churches today. I am recognizing it is ALL a work of God in ones life. It is ALL JESUS!

Enjoyed this post, Chip. It’s truth – we cannot do *anything* apart from Christ. We can’t save ourselves, but we can’t even live the Christian life! But once we receive His life, He can live it through us.
