The ground of Christ! You have it….. Since first we met on your old forum, The WayStation, I found an amazing man (I married him) who really brought home to me “the ground of Christ”–via T. Austin-Sparks. It has been so, so, so HARD to find anyone–just one other person–willing to meet on that ground exclusively. Our participation in the kingdom of God is really about agreeing with Christ no matter how uncomfortable that makes us and agreeing with His will in all matters.

I definiteliy agree with the message you shared, but boy is it hard! everytime I make progress in a certain area, I find that my adversary is not happy so throws lots of darts my way and I then find myself struggling and taking 3 steps back instead of going forward, but I am not going to give up eve if it is extremely hard going at times.

Thanks Chip! How far from what God intended for us we have strayed into a place where we actually have to SEEK the things of God!….before Adam turned away from God’s will the things and will of God was his LIFE – SEVERED for all mankind in the garden of Eden. Your message so ties in with an awesome book of Andrew Murray’s that I am feasting on at this moment, “The Practice of God’s Presence”. He talks of Self and the power of sin…”The fall of angels and men alike consisted of nothing but the perversion of their lives, their wills, and their personalities, away from God, in order to please themselves. This self-exaltation was the pride that cast them out of heaven and into hell. This pride was the infernal poison that the Serpent breathed into the ears and the heart of Eve.
“Man turned himself away from God to delight in himself and the world. His life, his whole individuality, was perverted and withdrawn from the control of God so that he might seek and serve himself.” …….the plan of God for mankind was torn up and ground into the dust of Eden by two so simple acts that were from self, goaded by Satan’s lies – (1) LISTENING to things that were not from or of God (2) ACTING out or YIELDING to the temptation because SELF wanted to be satisfied. There IS now only ONE way back to that plan God has for us, that Eden He created for us to live in, and that is through the NARROW Gate, and up the steep and difficult path that leads to eternal life – HIS will for us. Our WILLS MUST be surrendered, the SELF-life MUST DIE! While SELF is alive and well, there is no room for the Life of Christ. Absolute surrender. There is no other Way.

Ah, to soar with wings as eagles, far above the mediocre things of this world. To me the most profound example of repentance in the Bible is found in the story of the prodigal son. Instead of calling his dad saying, “hey dad, I ran out of money, could you please wire me some cash to keep me going?”, he realized the uselessness and lack of satisfaction his life, separated from his loving father, was giving him.
This is repentance, that we turn around and go back to the Father, where we originate. Every time we repent, we take a step towards Him.

When as a small child I would look up at the stars,I would feel awestruck,happy and frightened all at once.Walking with Christ seems much like that now…..so much ,so big, yet so embraceable…..and the realisation dawning that what I see represents only a tiny part of who he really is.

Hello brother Chip,
I’m amazed and exited about the word the Lord gave you and it confirms what He showed me just this morning !!
For many years I have been stumbling over the word in 2.Peter 3;9:
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with YOU (talking to the believers !), not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Paul is talking to believers and it has been clear to me that “everyone” does not mean all people in the world. But why is he talking about repentance when he is talking to believers??
The Lord showed me what you have wrote: Repentance is a continual process of agreeing with what God shows us about ourselves and then making the necessary adjustments. Hallelujah !!!
So God is patient with us – all whom He has called out and has chosen before He had made this world – that we may come to repentance: agreeing what God shows us and making the necessary adjustments !!

I agree wholeheartedly with you about leaving our ground altogether and come up to His ground. when I was praying some time ago, the Lord spoke to me & said come up to where I am & I saw in my minds eye an eagle soaring far , far above the earth & I wanted to reach that height, but didn’t know how to & I felt I have to spend time with God & be led by His Holy Spirit to leave the old way & follow the new way that He is teaching us-the heavenly way…far above the earth…soaring with Him….as you have mentioned today. thank you for this answer.
