I will say that I understand this scripture as Chip teaches it. I formally understood it as some of you are indicating, as that is the predominant present day denominational teaching. A study of history and of God’s law reveals that God’s judgements have always been restorative, not punitive and that prior generations have understood this better than ours. Chip is merely articulating a theme found throughout the Word of God. Unfortunately, that theme has been overshadowed in recent generations by alternative teachings. God is sovereign. He owns everything by right of creation and nothing shall be lost. Praise be to His most holy name!

Yes Steve! this is what I get from these scriptures. Whether people want to confess Jesus or not, in the end they see Him for who He says He is. In His Majesty and Power, they will have no choice but to bow and confess that Jesus is in fact Lord of all. Im still not convinced that all will be "saved" or not because I'm still seeking the Spirit for knowledge. God gives each one of us enlightenment in due time and these discussions of scripture is very important.

Greetings Beloveds.
In the light of these issues raised, im just thinking, after Jesus died and went to hell to take back the keys to life and death, did He not also safe the souls of them whose souls was locked up there prior to Him dying on the cross. Did He not afford those souls who died outside of the promise whom he found there, a chance to believe on Him, and in so doing, saved them? Just asking?

It is interesting that Paul is quoting Is. 45:23, where God (Yahweh) is speaking that every knee will bow and every tongue will swear to Him. When Paul is quoting this passage from Isaiah, he is saying that everyone will confess (acknowledge) that Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah is indeed Yahweh. I don't think it will result in salvation, but rather in the Father being glorified through the acknowledgment of Who the Son is.

There are things that the Holy Spirit will give you peace about. The above presented scriptures and discussion are the kind of things that I hope would cross everyones mind now and then. In the past while sitting confined to the four walls of the church, the answer was provided for me. A + B = C. Do what we do, do it now, or burn in hell forever. (Short message of the institutional church :) ) When my flesh is willing to consider what other members of the body of Christ are presenting, I often find that prayers that have been prayed are often answered. Everyday that I show up at the cross, and pray for His increase and my decrease, The Spirit of God will teach me something that will usually bring tears of joy, caused by me realizing that He will put His words in my mind and in my heart. I know that I have been given more chances than any one person deserves. Some will be first and some will be last, how dare we that are running the race put the finish line where it makes us feel better.

In reply to Marcus E.

Hey Marcus...

It's funny what issues stir people up. You already said you were "shocked." In this state of shock you tend to interpret things in a way that satisfies you. But that doesn't mean yours is the only interpretation. Your question suggests you don't fully grasp what I've already said elsewhere. So "context" is just as important to understanding me as it is to understanding Scripture. I've already covered this extensively in The Irresistible Kingdom and elsewhere. Feel free to check it out if you want to know my fullest thoughts on the subject.

The short answer is: there is no way to be saved outside of Christ, and I've never suggested there is. This is such a basic lesson. That's the reason why the Spirit and the Bride are inviting those "outside" to come and drink of the water of life freely.

The question is not "will they all be saved regardless" but "will they all be gathered into Christ so they CAN be saved through Him?" And Scripture supports the possibility of that taking place. So I'm saying (and have always said), "Consider the possibility." Not all can accept it. I'm not asking you to accept it, I'm asking you to consider it, and see if God shows you anything.

As for the timeline of Revelation 22, the simplest interpretation is chapter 22 follows chapter 21, in sequence. If it's referring to future events it doesn't matter if it was written in A.D. 95 or A.D. 1995. John wasn't writing in chapters, he was recording a free-flowing vision. The Spirit and the Bride's Invitation comes after the City is established and after the River is flowing to bring "healing" (not judgment) to the nations. Obviously there are people "outside" who need "healing" but they are invited to come, not go away. So this is not the final end - it is a restoration that comes AFTER the Lake of Fire. This is basic, simple, and the most reasonable explanation that ties all this together. The only way this doesn't make sense if is you are too "shocked" by what you "think" this means and you revert back to your religious programming that tells you it has to be a certain way.

Hope this helps!
