It's good to continue to re - affirm what already IS won in and by Christ Jesus. "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:1) "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." (1 John 5:4)

I think St. John reveals it to us as a NOW matter, the victory already in place: "NOW is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." (Revelation 12:10,11) - Especially that 1st part, the accuser is overcome with the word of our testimony. Praise God!

Chip,
I just love what the Holy Spirit has taught you and is teaching me through His Word and people like you.
I'm learning to take self to the Cross... It refuses to die, so I have to keep taking it and killing it... And it's a constant war... But I also feel greatly empowered by the Holy Spirit, and it's a joyful battle... Because I know in the end, when I let the Father win and imprint His laws in my heart, when I trust Him and abide in Him... it's His fruit that comes out...

I'm slowly but surely getting the hang of it... Stumbling and falling a lot. But pressing on. Joyfully thanking our Father for His decisive grace that always draws us near when we want to draw near... His abiding presence. His acceptance of my person, in spite of my many faults and weaknesses. His smile at my feeble attempts and the many "Help me or else I die!" that come out of my lips when I get into trouble. And the ceaseless prayer of worship, thanksgiving, and supplication... It's the Holy Spirit carrying me to the arms of Jesus! And once again, His love... His everlasting love heals the wounds. His steadfast love more than compensates for my hurt pride when man hurts.
It's hard to die... But it's joyful to see RESURRECTION POWER arising from it... And it just makes you want to die a little more! :)
