This a very interesting post to say the least. I was engaged in a conversation just the other day with a friend and he asked the following question: "Does Jesus own me?" I answered by saying yes. My friend began to explain to me that we were free and if Jesus owned us we would have to do only what He demanded.

To me this is how I believe this works. Jesus paid the ultimate price for us. We were enslaved to our own selfish will and had no other direction in our lives but to do what our selfish desire demanded. When He purchased our freedom He gave us the ability to choose as to which way we want to live, selfishly or submitted to Him. He now gives us a clear and solid directive as to how to live our lives, it is our choice now. I am reminded of the verse that says; "Today I have put before you life and death, choose life".

Am I a prisoner of Jesus, absolutely. The irony of this is that now that I am a prisoner of Jesus, I am really free, free from self.

Chip this is a great word that I wish every believer could truly grasp.

Thank you Chip!
To most people, hearing the word's prisoner of Christ would seem like bondage and our life would become dull and lifeless. But Christ meant it for good and His best for us is to be His prisoner and consumed by Him, so that ourselves are no longer useful and all we have left is Him and Him alone.

Bless you Elena!
What a sweet aroma of your pure heart toward our Lord. May He continue to bless you and your house hold. Thanking Him because He called us unto Himself, is the most beautiful act with our life and worship to Him that we can give. Our Father calling us to draw near to Him for fellowship and guidance is the most precious miracle to ever take place. Thank you Lord for seeking us out and calling us to sup with you and you with us, but most of all for saving us from ourselves and from the pit of death.

In reply to <a href="https://theschoolofchrist.org/october26#comment-5670">David Goss</a>.

David,
Your last statement is what we all struggle with. It's as though we are addict's to our past, never seeming to quite let go. This is what the Lord is helping me with at this very moment, to just let go and to never look back, at what was. How merciful and gracious the Lord is with my short comings. He knows what we need when we need it, and He will never give us more than we are able to bare, even though we think at times we are not strong enough to endure until the end. This is also where we have to die to self and self effort, even trying to follow Him, we can not do anything without Him first leading us out of our Egypt. It's heading toward our promised land that we fear, and what are we willing to give up to get there. With Christ leading, we can and will get there, but we have to press toward that common goal, which is all of Him and none of us.

I must be thankful that God has chosen me to serve Him. This time I would ask Him to watch over me so that I'll not go astray. As His follower, what is important now in my life is to serve Him faithfully through His guidance of course. I want to serve Him till I'm here on this earth. I truly appreciate all great things that happened in my life as well as in my entire family. God bless us all. .

Thank you for today's teaching. It is possibly the most important lesson you have helped me learn. The Lord has also shown me that losing is one thing but letting go of it is quite another. He is showing me that we need to let go of the security we enjoyed in our misery in order to receive the blessings of the new Life in Him. When we are set free from the place where we were imprisoned we must not hang onto the key that would allow us to go back there.
