Hi Chip! I'm still here... ?
Since these past weeks I'm thinking about the desert... what I have to do intro it... what I have to avoid allowing to pass... Since last month several people want to get in touch with me (some have found my number, others are new people) they want to talk to me about things or to see me... want to give me information... but I do not feel like to have "done" what I "should do" In the desert, and moreover I would like... more "desert", calm, peace...

In short, this lesson comes at the right time for me... ?

Thank you Chip, Yes, we all can have our moments when we due to harsh circumstances, or where we find ourselves in life, we may question what we actually believe and why. (And strangely enough, it may come when we come "outside" of Organized Religion)! But that will not separate us in our "relationship" toward Jesus unless we allow it to. I believe that John the Baptist's faith was tried; but that it was encouraged and became STRONGER when he heard of the miracles that Jesus, as the Son of God could do. Thank you for your quick response.

In reply to <a href="https://theschoolofchrist.org/otc-10-spiritual-importance-wilderness-part-2#comment-6418">Timothy</a>.

Hey Timothy! I've never heard it, but it's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard of. When we read John's testimony we see he clearly recognized Jesus as the Messiah as well as "the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world" (not just the Jews). It's true that he had a moment of despair when he was in prison, but being attacked by the spirit of religion can make the best of us doubt what we really know to be true. Thanks for listening.

Hi Chip, I have read where someone claimed that, because John the Baptist was gathering and baptizing his own followers, he NEVER was a follower of Jesus, as the Messiah. That he had an "intuition" that Jesus MAY have been the Messiah, but he NEVER followed him as such. This same person then goes on to claim that John was guilty of being on a "spiritual ego trip", for which he was subsequently 'punished' by his beheading! I know that all of this is pure speculation and conjecture, but what is your opinion on that? Was John a follower of Jesus as the Messiah? Or, did he die before he had the chance to "accept" Him? I think he was led out to the wilderness to meet the Messiah AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIM AS SUCH. Your answer to this will settle in my mind (and that of others) any erroneous "teaching" by someone who may "think that he or she ACTUALLY KNOWS". Thank you for your great teaching in His Spirit. Timothy
