We aren’t glorifying Abel, but we are noticing what worship God accepts and what worship is unacceptable. The “way” of Cain is a lot deeper than what he did, it was who he was. You’re focusing on “what” he gave; I’m focusing on “how” he gave as a reflection of his heart. Both crops and lambs were accepted by God after the Mosaic law was instituted. It’s not about crops or lambs, it’s about Religion, or Spirit and Truth. Thank you for reading.

Abel’s sacrifice was perfect not because he gave his best first — even that is religion (works)
that he could boast about. It was that by sacrificing the lamb the firstfruit of his flock showed that he had faith in God’s perfect plan of redemption of the promise of a messiah who was Jesus — the lamb of God – the firstfruit of salvation. There is no sacrifice man can do that is adequate. This was it was all God and not man’s doing to measure. We don’t make ourselves righteous by doing the right thing but by faith in what God has done to save us. It’s the cross and nothing but the cross – Jesus our Savior. This way no man can boast. God gets the glory. So no glory to Abel for doing the right thing – he was simply believing the promise. Amen!!

Brother Chip……..Thank you for this excellent article. It is right on the mark. I lost my ears in Vietnam, and am not able to follow your teachings when you speak at your audio teachings. As a christian, we should always pay a close attention to our attitudes toward God. We at times forget that God always gives us the best, and, we fail to do the same to Him. That spirit of Cain who’s fighting all the time to dominate us, to make us act in a way that God in order to maintain His justice,must reject our worship, our service.

Dear Brother Chip,
Thank you for the instructions on how to deal with Cain. I’m becoming really angry lately at all the evil that I see around me especially the persecution of Christians around the world. I’m trying to teach my peaceful 7 year old boy to fight and defend his honor and not let anybody push him around. I do not like wrong and how do we defend the poor and defenseless if we do not even defend ourselves… Am I becoming like Cain?? I sure am annoying everyone around me 😉 It sure is hard to figure out what is the right thing to do and teach to our little ones. I thank the Lord for you, you are a shining light in this darkness.
