Tragically, it is just a shear theology; not for many, but for all Sunday Christians. All my desires and passions, my habits, my addiction are in my Flesh, the Old Man. “For all that is in the World the lust of the Flesh, the Lust of eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the World. 1John 15:16. If I am not crucified to the World and the World is not Crucified to me, my spirit had not become one with the Spirit of Christ 1Cor. 6:17. and I am not (Not my Body and Mind, my Spirit One with the Spirit of Christ) sitting with Him in heavenly places. Those who Belong to Christ have Crucified their Flesh. And those who belong to Christ ( were Created in Christ Jesus. Eph.2:10) and they were Crucified with Him, Died with Him, buried with Him and resurrected with him, and their spirit having become One with the Spirit of Christ is sitting in the heavenly Places and their Mind and Body is here on earth, becomes the part of the Church, the Ecclesia in the Wilderness. Now it depends upon me, whether I walk by the Spirit which is in heaven ( And in me, The Christ is in me) or my Mind and Body which is on the Earth in the Wilderness. If I walk by the Mind and Body I shall die, If I walk by the Spirit I shall live. As my Mind and Body is in the Wilderness, I must seek First the Kingdom of God, as the Israel, according to Flesh were required to seek First the Promised Land, not what shall we eat, what shall we drink or where shall we live. All my needs, while I am in the Wilderness; are supplied by my God according to His riches in Glory. Amen

He has done it all for us! All the victories in my own life over fleshly lusts and habits have been realised when I have tried and failed so many times and in defeat from my own self efforts have come to the end of myself and my own strivings and have cried out ‘I give up ‘ He then plucks it out and takes it over and and I find at last I am walking in the victory! He knows when we mean what we say so we can’t pretend to mean it and it is Him that brings us to the end of ourselves anyway. It is all His finished work being worked out in us day by day on Earth as it is in Heaven.

I wanted rid of them, and tried so hard, but they would not go. Ten years spent mining in a tough little mining town had taught me to cuss with the worst of the miners. I heard myself and hated it! When I came to Christ I cringed when I heard myself using an expletive that was so ugly and not of Jesus! One day, some weeks after my new life in Him began I suddenly realized that my MOUTH was CLEAN! No longer was I using the foul stuff that came from my mouth if something upset me! I KNEW it was God! I KNEW that what was impossible to me, was possible for God. I was like the prophet Isaiah…
“Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said:
“Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged.” (Isaiah 6:6-7)…….my sin was purged by my Jesus, gone – never to return.
I had a terrible smoking habit, too. The stench of stale cigarettes filled the house, stained the walls, soaked into my clothes, stained my fingers and teeth…..40+ a day for 26years was not going away in my own strength. I tried. I tried. I tried. Then one day, in desperation I cried out to the LORD to help me. And He did! I was GIVEN the strength to overcome that which I was unable. His grace truly was sufficient. But with this went also the consumption of fortified wine!…..God is GOOD!
If we seek Him with all of our hearts, are willing to lay down OUR lives and take on His righteousness, HE makes this come about – the death of the old sinful self, the resurrection power of our risen LORD overcoming what we are unable to overcome in our own strength, His shed blood cleansing us from ALL sin! Hallelujah!
My dear friend C…. who is now set free from 40years of deep depression, and drug abuse! – not through “therapy” or other drugs, but the power of Christ to set her free from what held her in bondage! Sin and death… Oh, how GOOD our God is! She could do NOTHING without Him, but is enabled to do all things through (the risen) Christ who strengthens her……ALL of us, if we will take a hold of HIM!
