Chip, I'm sorry about trying to expect you to review these posts. In answer to my own question, I feel and know; that my true brother and sister in Christ are all those who follow Christ in utter surrender to His will, and not their own. Hence, that may make the homeless man or woman on the street, under the freeway overpass, with the cardboard sign more my brother or sister (if a Christian) than the "churchgoer" who is just mouthing off his or her insincere connection to me! That may make the alienated and outcast individual more of my brother or sister, than those pretending hypocrites who never contact me when my roommate is undergoing Dialysis treatment! That may make even the struggling gay or lesbian person more my brother or sister than the married man or woman who holds to "family values only" and shows these ones indifference altogether! May we seriously consider this when we think of our "true" brothers and sisters and help all those who are in need as able. God bless one and all.

Hi Chip! , Although I can see your point of who is, and is not, my elder; just who really is my brother or sister in Christ? That may seem like a rather simple question. But EVERY Christian denomination will claim me as such; regardless of whether I am a member of their church or not! Fellowship is important, but membership only to promote "their church", only leaves me once again submitting to a more external form of worship and service. They all claim that church attendance helps keep you "connected to the body of Christ". They don't tell you about all the rules and programs that they wish you to surrender to! Your timely response in this regard will be much appreciated. God Bless You. Timothy.

Last night I was sitting on my bed wondering about the difficult situation I have been in for a few months now....I said to the Lord: I wish I could go to an elder brother or sister to get some advise....
I found your article "Dealing with Difficulty" and it was just what I needed !! The Lord lead me to the "elder brother" Chip with more practical wisdom than I have !

This is how the Lord works even when we are many miles apart and oceans between us and no brothers or sisters around us....it is the SPIRIT !!
ALL GLORY TO THE LORD JESUS !!!

Amen! Being in Christ let's practice humility in life. To our Pastors as well as to our co-members in church, let's respect one another. We must be humble in all our ways, in talking with them and in some other things, let's always act with humility. Pride must not be seen in us. Let's always be humble. Glory to God!
