For me showing mercy to people who do evil things towards us is something we all fail to do it routinely. But it is a must issue to live with Him and receive mercy from Him.
Mercy is key for christians life that we need to do it on daily basis, as we are receiving mercy from Him every minutes.
Chip, grace be with you. Oh God please put your mercy on every one of us. Amen

Additional thoughts.

Jesus clearly tell us in scriptures that we are in the world but not of the world. We must understand that this world that we are in, is motivated and encouraged to seek their own revenge or vengeance.

Have you ever considered why scripture clearly tells us that vengeance is the Lords and He will repay? I must confess that for along time I would read this and silently think “go get them God”. But now I think I have come to the realization that God and only God can issue vengeance from a pure and true basis of mercy. We as Christians cannot even begin to fathom what that really would be like, let alone a worldly and reprobate mind.

Praise God for His eternal mercy!

Great post Chip.

My personal conviction is that for the most part we as believers do not fully comprehend just how merciful God is towards us. We constantly make mistakes and “blow it” and miss the mark.M Yet God faithfully forgives and cleanses us. He does this because scripture clearly tells us that His mercy endures forever. It is very easy to get caught up in the cares of all the daily activities that we face in our various stages of life. We need to stay focused on just how merciful He is to us, and share this with who ever and whatever we come in contact with. We can never exhaust this eternal supply of mercy.

I understand. I have a son that walked away from the Lord several years ago. it seems as though he has been taken over by a dark spirit. He is also in a very dark place and does not want to go forward and have a life. its very draining watching him spiral. He lives with me and he stays in His room in darkness and does not want anything to do with us as far as being social. He also doesn’t want to be asked or questioned about his state of being. My husband is not on the same spiritual page with Christ and does not pray for our son or for anything ,nor does he search and seek God. So I’m alone with this storm I face daily. The Lord wants me to love him and show grace and mercy in spite of how he is, even though I see no change in him. Jesus says His joke is easy and I choose to believe that Gods word is Truth. We are not to take our eyes off Him as Peter did and fell in the sea. I know my Solid Rock that I firmly remain grounded and planted on will not shake or move in the midst of the storm. Please, Susanne cling to Him with all your might and try not to fear when dark spirits try to rob, steal and destroy. Please don’t allow this evil spirit to rob you of your joy in the Lord. You can pray this spirit out of your house if you believe that. I know you do! Jesus forgives all things and will restore all that’s lost. You can believe that is Truth Susanne. I will pray for your situation and for Jesus to give you eyes to see Him in His fullness and Love. Love will always take care of any fear in our lives. You can trust in that always. Hi dear Cherry, thank you for your encouragement! I have learned that some sort of spiritual battle with my husband because of not want to see the truth was so destructive that i almost lost my life in it. The Lord had me to cut off my marriage. We have two kids who all suffered with suicidal thoughts and emotional breakdown, including myself. I had really lived in hell for three yrs. This was a Jez spirit, and i lost my own spiritual life in it, was no more able to hear the Lord or trust his voice..this is a death sentence right from Hell. It is NOT this mercy to cover all these failures we all make in our journey with the Lord. There are times when people and of course family members, are sucking out your very life, and you are left in a state of total insecurity in your mind and emotions. This spirit plays with your emotions to rob you of your own personal life with the Lord and accuses you of NOT being mercyful, when the truth is the opposite!! I know what I have endured. you cannot be mercyful without truth in battle with this spirit. Read it for yourself in Revelation and what Jesus told his church about the Jez Spirit.

I’m so thankful that God had given me despite of my feebleness the strenght to separate. So..life goes on and I have paid the price. Some people only suck out and then turn around and accuse…That’s not the Lords leading to be a prey of Jez. I had NEVER imagined to be separated….This was hell..Anyways..everyone must hear His voice..follow His leading…

In reply to susanne buhtz. You are not alone Susanne!! The Lord knows your suffering. I too struggle with trusting people that have hurt me and so many people. But they too are blind to their wrongs against others. Without mercy, grace and love, hardened hearts will not listen or see. its a battle at times, but very much needed. Forgiveness is key to showing mercy to those who have hurt you or those you have untrust towards. I have a ordeal right now that's heart breaking and hurtful, and am angry at times when I think about the situation too much. I want to confront them desperately, but I know my efforts will be futile. Just pray and trust God to handle all your concerns because He knows more about whats going on than even we do. Things will always go as planned. it may not be our plans but God will handle all things.

And what is when a jezebel spirit of dysfunctional behaviour in a family..church or some sort of relationship is?? Seems all are sooo merciful..I’m broken..because of false brethren..mistrust..divisions..half truth and self pity..Seems i’m alone..God bless you all

Another thing……. “Mercy is the outward manifestation of pity; it assumes need on the part of him who receives it, and resources adequate to meet the need on the part of him who shows it.”………We can NEVER claim that we do not have the resources to meet the needs of those God places before us on the road of life. God will ALWAYS supply our need and the need of those He wants us to be merciful to, whether financial, physical, spiritual, emotional……His grace IS sufficient. He has promised us that if we will simply OBEY, He WILL take care of our need. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. When we are weak, when we are INSUFFICIENT, HE is sufficient, He is strong……and when this is “right” – HE is glorified, not us, just the way it SHOULD be. Thank You Father! Oh, LORD, make me a worthy servant to reach out in my weakness to help those You want me to help, believing that when I am insufficient, YOU are sufficient, for Your glory and praise. Amen.

As I read this message from Chip about mercy, I looked at my own heart to see whether mercy was truly there the way God wants me to be merciful. Christ was and is perfectly merciful….if He truly abides in us are we not meant to be perfectly merciful, as He is? How VERY EASY it is for us today to watch what goes on around us in the world, and harden our hearts towards broken, lost and dying people!…..to become critical, harsh and judgmental towards those wounded people lying beside the highway of life crying desperately for help! Do we just see their mess and point the finger saying “You got yourself into that situation, you get yourself out!”…..or do what Father God did for us when we got so lost and messed up there was none to help but Him. Was I in need of mercy after screwing up so MANY years of my own life, and hurting so many people around me? I desperately needed His mercy, but NEVER deserved it! When I think of this, it breaks my heart that I could have been UNmerciful to those who are wearing the same boots as I wore….and STILL wear at times when my eye is distracted from following Him. Do I need mercy? – ABSOLUTELY, therefore I should likewise extend mercy to ALL those around me, regardless of what they do and say to hurt me. He is TOTALLY merciful….to those in need of mercy. Mercy and compassion are Blood brothers…..Blessed are the merciful, for they WILL obtain mercy. But therein lies a danger! We must NEVER SHOW mercy with the intention of GETTING mercy. I should always show mercy because my heart is broken for the need of the person, not for the reward. God looks at the heart – there is SO much danger today that we become hardened to the need of others! –
God help ME to keep MY heart right before You, Father, and to keep my beloved brethren likewise, so that in the midst of a cruel, heartless, ruthless and self-centered generation we may be beacons of love, mercy, compassion, and kindness to reach out a helping hand to those in need! …to lift up one who is dying and help them back onto the pathway of Life. In Jesus’ blessed Name. Amen.

Truth is, it is ALL about the condition of my heart. And that is what Father sees, and that is what man also sees.
