Excellent post.

To me the key to an overcoming life is to cast down our own selfish and foolish pride. that is so filled with the idea that "if you do not defend yourself, who will" If you only see the work of the cross from a selfish point of view., it looks as if Jesus gave in to His enemies and failed.

The cross was not a failure, as some have proclaimed. instead it was the greatest victory that has ever happened on the face of the earth.

God never overrides our own will. This is the key the whole concept of loosening and binding. To truly overcome it usually looks like we are giving in. For example; if we want to overcome an issue of forgivingness, when we feel like the other party offended us, we must first "FORGIVE" them. In doing this we are allowing God to move in a supernatural way that can defy our natural thinking, this is just one way to live an overcoming life.

As I heard someone say one time; "sometimes have to act against ourselves".

We have at our disposal all the power and wisdom that is in the universe. This cannot be handled carelessly , if we will approach and access it in the way God desires for us to use it, then we can see the fruit of an overcoming life

Praise be to Jesus.

In reply to <a href="https://theschoolofchrist.org/september9#comment-5318">Macario Cadatal</a>.

Of course you can prevent the demonstration of the preeminence of Christ in your life. Just be foolish, disobedient, lazy, or carnal. On the other hand, if you wish to demonstrate the preeminence of Christ in your life, obey Him; walk in love; be filled, taught and led by the Spirit; and bring forth the fruit of righteouesness. You cannot hide behind "Jesus did it all, so I can do nothing." You can do nothing in yourself, true; but in Him you can do all things. There is no contradiction, but one complements the other. As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead, being alone.

Yes i agree that the purpose of our calling is to demonstrate the preeminence of Jesus Christ in our personal lives. However how can i do that when Paul said, "...not i but Christ who lives in me...". There seems to be a contradiction. It is not i who should demonstrate the preeminence of Christ but He (Christ) who is living in me should be the one to do it. What is my role then as individual? Do i have the power to prevent the demonstration of the preeminence of Christ in my life?

Amen! We become overcomers as long as we're in Christ because He gives us strength. The bible says, "If we're in Christ who can be against us." So we have His Word and we believe in it. We must stand firm in our faith no matter what. Glory to God!
