I believe that the testimony is much more than just celebrating Christmas or not celebrating Christmas. For me, I understand that witness is the revelation we have of Christ, and that it grows in us as Christ reveals Himself to us. As for tithing, I’ve tithed for years and have experienced God’s blessing because of it. However, with my discontent for churchanity and looking at churches I see the tithe as their only way of supporting their endeavor. I’ve come to the conclusion God did not honor my act of tithing He honored my heart for giving. The same for Christmas, the world has changed it into a heathen money making give me activity, but not for me and my household as we thank God for the reminder that Christ Jesus was born into humanity and if that had not happened then His death and resurrection could also not happen and we all would be without hope. Keep in the race.

I’m sorry for over-reacting.
As I said, a couple of my friends have pressured me not to celebrate Christmas, because they feel it is wrong, for reasons I’m sure you know.
For years I felt afraid that this particular friend would come over my house and see my tree (talk about hypocritical- that description fits me perfectly!)
Finally last year we were making plans to get together, and I had the courage to say- if you come over my house, don’t lecture me please that I have a Christmas tree.
The funny thing, is, if it weren’t for my mentally retarded daughter, I wouldn’t bother with one. I don’t think its wrong. I just don’t care about it one way or the other. But my daughter does, so I basically put it up for her.
But the thing I have issue with, is my 2 friends quote the Bible to say that it is wrong to celebrate Christmas. That’s what I have issue with.
So when I heard you talking about the Bible along the same vein, it basically triggered something in me that brought back alot of yucky feelings.
I read the word everyday, not because I have to, but because I want to. I love the word, and like you, it teaches me, etc. But if a day goes by and I’m too busy, its no big deal.
I just have issue with people quoting the Bible to “prove” their point.
There have been times when even though people have
proved” their point, I have still turned around and said, I’m sorry, but I don’t believe that. To give an example, the last time this happened was with the issue of tithing.
I’m learning to speak up about these things, instead of being roped in and then pretending like I did for years with the whole Christmas issue. It caused me many years of anxiety, and left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Then I read the same chapter & the Holy Spirit shows me a deeper part . I have been reading the Bible a while & I do not find it full of dos & do nots. I could have got as far as I am with out the Holy Spirit . I am glade to hear that you are home schooling your kids. Jesus said love your brother & if you do things out of love then where are the dos & do nots. The Word of God (Bible) with the Holy Spirit Is the answer to all thing that I have seen . It is hard to do what is right. Some thing that the Holy Spirit has showed me is impossible to put in to words.I have some times fail to put it all down. I thank you for showing me that . I guess that you could say that the Bible is just a book with out the Holy Spirit . I don”t a lot of things that religion sees in the Bible but there is no way either of us will change but I will talk to any of them . To argue one of the two has to get mad . By the way I do not see the rapture in the Bible . Most religions get the rules from the Bible . I should say that you should ask the Holy Spirit to help you to teach you the truths in the Bible. I have just called it studying because to me looking for the truth is what I am doing. I pray that I have not hurt your feelings at all . I must say that I have found this talk to be very helpful . I have to apologize to everyone.
I finally have found an outlet where I think I can talk openly with people, but I’m finding all this frustration and anger coming out.
I’m really angry at the church, for a number of reasons.
And I’m angry at myself, because I have done and been many of these things.
I’ve been more of a hindrance than a help to God’s Kingdom, and still feel this is probably the case.
I guess with most of my friends, I have to zip my lip, because most are still in the system.
But keep being afraid I’ll get booted off this site.
Is there a place in this world where people can be real?

I read a book where the author claimed Jesus told her that only 20% of Christians are ready for the Rapture. I’m not saying whether this is true or not. The point I want to make is that if you tell Christians that, assuming it is true, that 80% of Christians will think that they are in the 20%, and about 20% may wonder if they are in the 80%.
I homeschooled my kids, and I found an elitist attitude in the homeschoolers, that somehow we homeschoolers were somehow more spiritual, holier, etc, etc, than those Christians that sent their kids to public school. I think we need to guard against that kind attitude wherever we are at in our spiritual walk.
Afterall, isn’t that the Pharisaical attitude that made standards of behavior that others had to follow if they were to be as “holy” as the Pharisees thought themselves to be?
One of the lessons that I learned with homeschooling is that every form of schooling has its strengths and weaknesses, and that as believers we are to be seeking the Lord as to His will for us at every point of our life, not just following a set of “rules” that others have decided are the “right” thing to do.
The Bible is a wonderful book. It is God’s inspiration to man.
I could be wrong, but I believe it is to point us to God, not become a manual consisting of a bunch of rules. I know people think its right, and even teach that all of God’s will toward us is found in that book. I have trouble with that. I see the Bible more as a diving board. Its a good way to jump in. But if the Bible is all we need, then why did Jesus send His Holy Spirit? If the Bible was all we needed to know, why does the Bible tell us that Holy Spirit will teach us all things?
I don’t mean to argue with anyone. I think each of us need to seek God as to what He wants us to do in each situation. And then we are to do it, without expecting everyone else to follow suit.
When we start making rules such as don’t touch this, don’t do that, we’ve lost the whole point.

It is the ideal that most christians do not really study the bible enough to see the problem. I do not agree with the mixing of truths and the worlds. I try very hard to do or say only what I see in the bible and I find a lot of the world in what I use to believe in . If you find christmas hard then look at remnant ,realize That some of the family we love will not be saved. that is what really hurts me .

I’ve been all over the place with Christmas, and have come to a similiar conclusion. Its a day I enjoy spending with my family.
I still am pressured by a couple of friends not to celebrate it at all, while most of my friends feel “Jesus is the reason for the season”.
I think Satan loves all the controversy about Christmas.
I guess the key is for each person is to seek the Lord on this matter, and then follow His leading. The problem comes (and I’m not saying those that have commented on this site have done this, talking about it is good) when people start putting their expectations on others what to believe or what to do concerning these matters.
It seems to me that the holidays (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and especially Halloween) have become a battleground for Christians against the world.
But I just wonder what type of fruit all this is producing.
