Hi Chip, I’ve spent much time and energy writing to and talking to Christians about holiness, evangelism, and the ekklesia (led by a plurality of elders, where everyone who speaks for God is allowed to address the assembly, cf. 1 Corinthians 14). I’ve done this only to find myself “talking to the wall”. The church members will do nothing unless their Pastor approves of it. Pastors function as gatekeepers and members will only do what is approved by their Pastor. After reading your article, I’m considering that perhaps I have not been sent to “the church” at all. That leaves me to wonder where I’ve been sent or if I’ve been sent at all? Your article has enlightened me to pray for God’s guidance.

Thanks for this timely reminder. I have been in conflict with a fellow Christian who feels called to pray for her family. I, however, am called to pray for those around me. We parted company quite amicably when I used the analogy of railroad tracks that are parallel and have a common destination but are on separate paths. They are joined by railroad ties but don’t actually join at any point.

Hi Chip, I think the main reason that people rush forward to do “something” is our inherent need to have personal power. We want to be noticed and have accolades rather than surrender to Christ. Waiting takes surrender and submission.Christ is coming back to destroy all personal power and display His power and glory. Our “job” is to listen and wait. Brother Chip,
After being alone so much, even from my job, (I work in a room entirely alone, not allowed to leave it, with a window I have to climb to look out of. I’ve done this for 14 years.(eight hrs. a day) There were times I didn’t see a single person for 3 months. Even the garbage wasn’t picked up. I was made vulnerable. I was humbled. I was weak. There were times that I felt like Paul must have felt , while in prison. The Lord delivered me from this place just recently. A new window is being put in. I’ll have a bigger office and many are facing discipline actions….I endured 14 years of solitude, not too mention I live alone also. I don’t know how the time has passed so quickly, but I do know in whom I believe. His name is Jesus and He is able to keep us from falling.

Now to new and wonderful trials, that make me weak, but strong in Him.

On the evangelism side of this article it reminded me of Matthew 23:15: “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.” This is what happens when we don’t go where we’re sent.
This article also made me think about 1 John 3:16-17: “16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” I encourage the saints to understand that TO WHOM AM I SENT also applies to this scripture. I have seen people drown in guilt over this, thinking that they should give their last dollar to the drug addict on the corner begging for money. Equally, I have seen people take this passage and enable the lost, thus delaying the work the Lord is doing within that soul. This passage CLEARLY says “how can the love of God be in him?” which is exactly the point. The love of God does not enable, it crucifies. Spiritual discernment is key in both personal evangelism, and fulfilling a “need”. This passage should not be taken to the extreme and Ephesians 4:28, also must be noted to understand God’s clear intentions. Bottom line though remains the point of Chip’s article…to be led by the Spirit, and not the flesh.

Brother Chip WHAT AN ACCURATE AND TIMELY ARTICLE THE FATHER HAS LED YOU TO SHARE,THANKS FOR YOUR OBEDIENCE.I found it very interesting about the point reguarding the enemy useing Felix to tire out Paul from preaching the gospel to him.This article isn`t for everyone.This article will mean the most to the “Bride of Christ.”The ones who have a “God centered christianity,Not a man centered christanity.”Belivers that the father is raising up.
