Of course, they misunderstood this warning at first. But eventually they understood what Jesus meant: “Beware of the TEACHINGS of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”
The Pharisees and Sadducees are alive and well in the Christian church. They may go by other names, but it is the same spirit of religion that drives them. I’m so glad that Jesus did NOT say, “Love them where they are and try to understand their viewpoint… their hearts are in the right place, and after all, they are trying to do the right thing.” That is the leaven of liberalism that even now has infected the whole loaf. Take heed and beware of their teachings. What are they?
In this series of teachings I’m going to cover who the Pharisees and Sadducees are, as well as the main things they teach, so you can learn to recognize and avoid it when you hear it. This will not only help you steer clear, but will also empower you to help others who may be infected by that leaven.
