If it is true that God has already “blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly place in Christ” (Eph. 1:3); if it is true that “all the fullness of God dwells in Christ, and you are complete in Him” (Col. 2:9,10); if it is true that “of His fullness we have all received” (Jn. 1:15); then we have very little to ask God for, and very much to praise God about! It is not a lack of having, but a lack of seeing. All the spiritual wealth is there in Him, waiting to be discovered! This is why Paul prays for us to have wisdom, revelation, and enlightenment – to open our hearts and minds to what and Who we already have, to deliver us from the poverty mentality, and to see that in Christ we are recipients of the exceeding riches of His grace.
What is the essence of spiritual wealth, how does it flow, and why does God give it? What is our inheritance, and when will we receive it? How do we overcome this “poverty mentality” and walk in spiritual abundance? These are some of the questions we will consider as we explore “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ” (Col. 2:3).
