“Epignosis is the Greek word for “full-knowledge,” the kind of knowledge one does not obtain through study or education but through personal experience.
Do you ever feel like your head keeps getting in the way of your heart? Do you ever get tired of trying to figure out spiritual things with your mind?
There is a level of knowledge that surpasses rational thought and logic. It certainly goes beyond theology and doctrine. The Bible says we can “know the love of Christ which passes knowledge” (Eph. 3:19). How can you KNOW something that surpasses knowledge? It sounds like a contradiction. But this refers to the wisdom that comes “from above” that transcends the sum total of earthly wisdom and knowledge from below. You don’t need to figure it out, you just need to experience it.
Gnosis represents knowledge, facts, data, and other information gathered through study or “ever learning” – this represents Religion and is the reason for the perilous times of the last days. Epignosis represents Relationship, a higher, more complete, more mature, more spiritually preeminent knowledge gained through personal experience.
