ESSENTIALS OF A CHRIST-CENTERED FAITH

08. The Offense of the Cross

“Teach these things to faithful people who can teach others.” (2 Tim. 2:2).

We continue discussing the Seventh Essential of a Christ-Centered Faith, the Cross. Christ crucified is the Wisdom and the Power of God disguised in foolishness and weakness. It is the Way of Love, not Fear. And yet, the Cross offends the religious mindset. If the Cross is as wonderful as we say it is, why do people stumble over it? Because the Cross means Perfection in Love – without religious control. It also means the Reconciliation of All. To Embrace the Cross is to take the greatest possible risk; to endure the greatest possible suffering; to overcome the greatest possible evil; to achieve the greatest possible good; to demonstrate the greatest possible Love.
